BASS Angling

Kavindren “Kevin” Naidoo was born and raised in Howick West, KwaZulu-Natal, where he grew up fishing the local dams for carp and bass. His journey in angling stands as a testament to South Africa’s rich freshwater heritage.

In 2007, he proudly donned the nation’s green and gold, representing South Africa in bank angling at Region 5 in Zimbabwe. This honour marked a pivotal moment in his career and showcased his dedication to the sport. The achievement of Tri-Nation colours further underscored his commitment to excellence and national pride.

Bass angling brought new opportunities, and in 2018, he competed in South Africa’s Region 5 Bass tournament in Mozambique. He distinguished himself by landing some of the competition’s heaviest bass and earning top 10 finishes among elite anglers, reaffirming his place among the country’s best and again earning the Green and Gold.

His contributions go far beyond the podium. He has been celebrated for his sportsmanship, advocacy for conservation, and active involvement with angling federations. Earning national colours is more than a personal milestone—it reflects South African freshwater angling’s enduring legacy. Rooted in local dams, cast onto international waters, and ultimately brought back to inspire future generations, his story exemplifies the spirit and heritage of angling in South Africa.
